Further investments by Barrett Steel at its Scunthorpe and West Midlands facilities increase capacity, speed of turn round and the ability to innovate cost-effectively

Barrett Steel is offering customers new standards of tube manipulation and processing potential by making further investments at its Lasertube facilities. A LT14 (mini Jumbo) tube laser, the first in the UK, has been installed at the Scunthorpe plant, while a BLM ELECT 150 tube bending machine, which offers variable and fixed radii bending in one machine, is due for delivery and commissioning at the West Midlands depot later in the year. Barrett Steel has continued on the acquisition trail with the purchase of Parson & Crosland of Middlesbrough and Austin Trumanns of Newry, Northern Ireland, both from the Murray Group. Both companies will join the growing portfolio of Barrett Steel’s General Steels Division, saving more than forty jobs across the two sites, and safeguarding the existence of two long-established employers for their individual communities.
