Barrett Steel’s Strips & Alloys business has developed and produced new printing technology that revolutionises the spiral wound gasket industry by giving it a level of traceability never seen before.
As well as allowing full traceability from completed gasket all the way back to the producing mill, this new state of the art printing technology can assist with licensee auditing to ensure only approved materials are being used. The technology assists in detecting and preventing fraudulently manufactured gaskets, and by providing clear identification of material grade and heat number helps to prevent cross contamination. Originally from Thornton in Bradford, Emily has already completed the first two years of a BA Honours degree in Marketing and Advertising Management, and will return to the University to complete her third and final year of study in September 2012. Barrett Steel’s investment in new flatbed laser cutting equipment leads to higher productivity, speedier turn around and cost-savings for customers.
Responding to changing customer needs to combine steel stockholding and processing, Barrett Steel has made further investment in state of the art flatbed laser cutting equipment by installing a Bystronics Bystar 4025 at the Group’s Woodberry Chillcott facility in Bristol. The £500k total investment will allow the company to provide better cutting tolerances on mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, titanium and yellow materials, while the large bed size will lead to time and cost savings for customers.
